News, snippets and gig updates from Simone!

January 2015

A very Happy New Year to all and hope you enjoyed the Christmas break.

I'm totally back into the swing of things now with the Young Voices Tour which starts in Birmingham at the LG Arena before moving to Sheffield and The 02 in London. If you are one of the young singers taking part be sure to give me a wave! And I hope you enjoy being part of this very exciting and unique event.

I am really looking forward to the RNCM Day of Percussion on Sunday 8th February which promises to be a very exciting event with something for everyone and anyone who is interested in percussion. We have a host of great artists giving clinics - jazz vibraphonist Anthony Kerr, world percussion specialist Pete Lockett, Yamaha drums artist Troy Miller, LSO Principal Percussionist Neil Percy and LPO Timpanist Simon Carrington.

In addition we have a very unique event with the Manchester Marimba Orchestra which has been put together by Liz Gilliver and will feature 30 marimba players (on 30 marimbas!) in a one - off special performance conducted by Jim Gordon.

This year we also have a range of percussion workshops if you fancy rolling your sleeves up and participating in some playing. These will be given by RNCM Percussion Staff - Dave Hassell will focus on Cuban percussion, Andrea Vogler on junk percussion and percussion with film and Paul Patrick (assisted by Erin Gilmour) on various elements of snare drum playing. Ian Wright and Ian Forgrieve will also be available for 20 minute consultation lessons in timpani and tuned percussion.

All details are in the attached flyer (PDF, 473K) so be sure to book early as we are expecting a large number of attendees for this very exciting day.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Best wishes
