Summer 2013

A big hello to everyone that I have met and worked with over the summer including the percussion sections of the JBB Swiss Youth Band, National Youth Brass Band of Wales and National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. It has been a real joy to work with such excellent young musicians and I hope that everyone enjoyed their summer courses.

I am looking forward to welcoming several new students to the RNCM Percussion Department in September and if you are interested in possibly studying at the RNCM our Open Day is on Tuesday 24th September offering a really good opportunity to find out everything you need to know about studying at the college.

The college is undertaking a very exciting refurbishment of the main concert hall during Spring/Summer 2014 which means that our annual February Day of Percussion won't take place. But I am thrilled to be able to tell you of a unique event we are putting on in October - The RNCM Day of Percussion presents The Voice of the Drum. This is a full day of participatory workshops aimed that those who are interested in percussion from beginners upwards. We are also running a day of classes for teachers and there are several performances from the RNCM Percussion Department and our day closes with the excellent Candela Salsa Band featuring Birger Sulsbruck.
