Newsletter Easter 2011
I have enjoyed 2 really exciting trips to New York recently - the first with Ex Cathedra when we played in a beautiful church on Park Avenue to a capacity audience! The programme of Latin American Baroque music was very well received and we had a chance to meet many members of the audience after the concert. A few weeks later I was back out in the Big Apple - this time with Birmingham Symphonic Winds who I have had the pleasure of touring with before to Chicago and to Kilarney for the WASBE Festival a few years ago. This time it was the wonderful Alice Tully Concert Hall at the Lincoln Centre and it was a really marvellous occasion with both the orchestra and choice of music proving to be a real hit with the American audience! (a review can be seen at New York Concert Review).
I am looking forward to my first concert as director of the RNCM Percussion Ensemble (the concert on Thursday 12th May at 1.15pm is a free lunchtime concert) and that same evening playing alongside the legendary composer Steve Reich in his Clapping Music.
I hope to see you at an event soon!
