News, snippets and gig updates from Simone!

June 2005
Hello and Welcome to this month's newsletter.

I had a great time in May working on numerous education projects and it was great to meet and work with so many enthusiastic young people!

Particularly enjoyable was working with students who had seen me playing at the Young Voices Concerts - there are literally thousands singing in those choirs and I do not get the chance to meet many of the singers so it was great to meet up with many of those musicians to do some workshops. I hope everyone enjoyed them as much as I did!!

I am looking forward to my visit up to Elgin to play with the Scottish Co - op band in the Moray Spirit of Brass Festival in its first year.

I have a great mixture of events this month from my concert with Equivox in Glossop to one of my highlights of the year - directing the massed samba band from the EAZ Samba Extravaganza project at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesborough. Good luck to all that are taking part and here's hoping for some great weather!!

Another highlight this month will be BackBeat's visit to Salisbury to play in the beautiful cathedral on the 18th June. We are playing in David Fanshaw's African Sanctus which is a great favourite of ours and we are also playing a short programme in the first half too. A concert we are very much looking forward to!

I hope to see you at a concert and in the meantime - Happy Hitting!!

Very best wishes
