News, snippets and gig updates from Simone!

February 2005
Welcome to this month's newsletter and I hope everyone has survived the harsh weather we have been having. I am really surprised that the roof has (just about) stayed on the house!

A big hello to all those that I met on the recent BackBeat tour of schools in the Sefton area. By the end of the week we had given 18 concerts and workshops and played to thousands of students! We also had a great night at Southport Arts Centre in the world premiere of 'Invisible Dance' by Damien Harron for BackBeat playing alongside the Sefton Youth Jazz Orchestra and 30 children from Birkdale Primary School. We had a great night and the piece was a real hit!

I am looking forward to working with Kel Dennis on the EAZ Eston Samba Extravaganza at the start of this month in the run up to our big performance at the Riverside Stadium in June - we had 300 sambanistas last year so watch this space!

A real highlight of the month for me will be the Equivox concert at Poole Lighthouse (7.30pm 16th February). Equivox will play the first half and the second half features the legendary guitarist John Williams. This should be a great night so do try and make it if you can!

I am looking forward to working with my fab friend David Lawrence on a special Songs of Praise concert from Symphony Hall Birmingham (Saturday 26th Feb). This will be broadcast a few weeks later so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Best wishes to all for now and hope to see you at a concert soon!
